Aligning Disparate Systems

The company is a specialist in media technology, selling bespoke technologies to organisations worldwide. However, it faced challenges in its operations and finance management.

The company had grown to use separate platforms and applications for key business functions. Sales management, product tracking, project management and HR/payroll were all handled by separate systems, none of which fully communicated with the other. This made it difficult to gain accurate business intelligence around project orders, customer bases and overall company performance.

As the company sells solutions globally, it also wanted a smarter way for managing sales across a variety of currencies, tax regimes and consolidations. This in turn was then difficult to reconcile in overall financial performance data.

A new software solution was needed that could cover all aspects of finance and sales operations.

Finance Solution With Business Central

Having reviewed the market, the company assessed that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central could fulfil its requirements. Looking to take a phased approach to software implementation, the company engaged Akita to deploy Business Central initially as a finance solution.

For efficiency of deployment, we recommended our QuickStart BC package for a quick implementation of a finance-focused Business Central solution. This includes the management of sales in multiple currencies and overall reporting on key financial data such as profit and loss.

Our QuickStart approach meant the Business Central solution was ready in a matter of days. We were then able to deploy the solution without impact to operations, and staff were provided with the necessary training to get full use of the platform.

Results

The Business Central implementation has, as a first phase of transformation, provided the media company with a more streamlined way of managing its finances.

Thanks to the application’s finance functionality, it’s now far simpler for the company to manage its international orders and obtain accurate budgeting and forecasting data.

The enhancement to customer management from within Business Central has also helped the media company to improve its sales customer service.
