Our client provides hazardous material treatment services across the UK. We worked with the company to transform their health & safety reporting with Microsoft Power BI and Dataverse technology.
The Challenge
Operating in a heavily regulated industry with potential high-risk to health, the company required an accurate, efficient way to report critical health & safety data.
Due to the nature of their work, maintaining visibility over audits, inspections, accidents, and compliance monitoring was paramount.
However, their existing system was inadequate for presenting the necessary data visually or enabling detailed reports, particularly for specific metrics like audits by material type or inspections by work stream.
This hindered the HSE’s ability to report on data quickly without manual analysis.
As Akita has experience in developing advanced HSE reporting solutions, the company engaged us to meet its needs.
Our HSE Power App Solution
To address these challenges, Akita implemented a comprehensive solution focused on data centralisation and visualisation:
Import To Dataverse: We created a daily import process to bring all relevant Health & Safety data into Microsoft Dataverse. This ensured that the client’s data was centralised, up-to-date, and ready for detailed reporting and analysis.
Custom HSE Power BI Reporting: We developed a Power BI report designed to visualise key health & safety metrics. This report provided detailed visuals across critical areas including audits, inspections, monitoring activities, accidents and near misses, and RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations).
The Power BI report enables filtering by date, work stream, material type, and even inspections by manager.
This provides a granular view of operations, allowing management to quickly assess areas of concern or high performance.
Benefits Of Health & Safety Reporting Solution
The integration of Power BI and daily data imports into Dataverse has transformed the client’s ability to manage and report health & safety data. It can now generate accurate, visually engaging reports for HSE requirements, including detailed breakdowns such as audits by material type or inspections by work stream.
Management has enhanced visibility into key metrics, allowing them to filter data by various factors, such as work stream or material type, and monitor inspections by manager, all in real time.
This improved oversight enables the company to identify trends and take preventative measures to manage risks more effectively.
