Microsoft has published release plans for its cloud applications update – known as Wave 2 – across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform utilities.

This update introduces new innovations, features, and improvements to transform application capabilities and usability. Set to be released in October 2022, this blog outlines some of the many features set to be added for 2022 Release Wave 2 for Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform applications.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 2022 Release Wave 2 Updates

Microsoft covers a lot of ground with the 2022 Release Wave 2. While each module will get its own updates, more general UI improvements will allow views of information without navigating away from main records.

There’s also a new function for sharing records, allowing users to copy and share information with greater ease.

Dynamics 365 Marketing

New updates for the Marketing application will make it possible for B2B brands to hyper-personalise customer experiences across the buying journey and scale up their marketing programmes, with features including:

• A new Analytics dashboard to better show lead flow

• A new segment builder to support contacts and leads

• Email organisation to simplify marketing across multiple brands

• Improved form editor and more dynamic forms based on previous engagements

• More sales triggers within the marketing journey (such as Activities)

Dynamic 365 Sales

Microsoft continues to optimise its sales CRM experience by implementing AI and data tools to help businesses prioritise workloads and facilitate in-the-moment collaboration. Some new tools include:

• A new pane of customer insight and files in Microsoft Teams called a Deal Room

• Better individual analytics with a Seller dashboard

• The ability to track linked Teams chat as activities in the timeline

• Record sharing in emails and chats

Dynamics 365 Customer Service

This Dynamics 365 application will benefit from enhancements that help optimise contact centre operations and promote unified routing. Some updates include:

• Customer support swarming for complex cases

• Ability to insert records as elements in Teams chats and emails

• Additional duration detail for SLA metrics

• Embedded Teams chat enhancements

• Improved knowledge article smart assist

• Ability to link signature templates to a queue

• Personalised out-of-box historical analytics reports

• Ability to monitor support operations near real-time

Dynamics 365 Field Service

Microsoft is incorporating new features into Field Service to enable businesses to increase service operations for workers through better ease of management. This can be achieved through:

• Mobile app usability enhancements for less scrolling

• Utilities for better managing subcontractor details

• Function to prevent work orders exceeding set values

• Promotion of the new schedule board as the default

Power Platform 2022 Release Wave 2 Updates

When it comes to Power Platform, Microsoft aims to make it easier for businesses to add components to previously designed applications by enhancing production functions. Some new features include:

• New features to deliver better grid designs in Power Apps

• Sequential approvals in Power Automate for complex processes

• Modern security role editor experience

• Functionality to design Power BI for a better experience on a mobile device

And accompanying Power Platform updates is the recently announced Power Pages – a new pillar that helps create and administer portals online. Microsoft will release new site templates for employee onboarding and permit applications, as well as facilitate connections to external data from Dataverse.
